Relaxation in Lueneburg

Just 30 miles from Hamburg, Lueneburg dazzles with its medieval buildings and thousands of years of history. Known historically for its salt trade, Lueneburg is today a lively city, with over 400 pubs and restaurants. Somewhat of a gastronomic experience, Lueneburg has everything, from starred restaurants to cosy pubs. Visitors looking for relaxation in nature or on the water have also come to the right place. Nearby lies the Wildpark Lueneburger Heide wildlife park, which offers families an exciting change from the city. The same can be said about Heidepark Soltau, one of Germany's largest theme parks. Enjoy the many carousels and roller coasters.

City Sights

There are many sights to be explored in Lueneburg. It has more than 1000 architectural monuments and other idyllic spots. The Kloster Luene is a former convent which today informs about architecture and art treasures, and St. Johannis is one of many important churches in Lueneburg.
Visitors can also head down to the romantic harbour to experience many architectural and gastronomic treats, or explore the city's rich history in one of the museums, such as the Ostpreußisches Landesmuseum (German only) or the German Salt Museum (German only).
