With more than 300 aviation companies, Hamburg is among the industry’s leading cities, both nationally and globally. Because of this and the proximity to big companies like Airbus and Lufthansa, the Messehallen convention centre has been home to the renowned annual Aircraft Interiors Expo since 2002.
It was there, where five years later, in 2007, the Hamburg Aviation cluster first awarded a new prize for innovative aircraft cabin products: the Crystal Cabin Award.
It was the goal to further improve passenger comfort as well as to create new economic and eco-friendly solutions. To this end, the award is bestowed annually upon one of the shortlisted submissions in seven different categories:
- Greener Cabin, Health, Safety & Environment
- Industrial Design & Visionary Concepts
- Material & Components
- Passenger Comfort Hardware
- Passenger Comfort Systems
- Premium Class & VIP
The highly reputable “Academy Award of aviation" provides companies with the unique opportunity to present their ideas to the World, which can be extremely vital for smaller and medium-sized businesses.
