Founded in 2019 by several businesses, research teams, and the City of Hamburg, the ARIC (ARtificial Intelligence Center) Hamburg is designed to show how AI can simplify everyday life for everyone. Their showroom features enough space for exhibitions and even an interactive laboratory so visitors can experience the potentials of AI on site.
AI development through industry convergence
Registered as a scientific association, the ARIC’s goal is to establish an interdisciplinary centre for application-oriented AI research in the Hamburg metropolitan region. In order to create a central AI hub between industries, a team made up of experts from the fields of economics, the natural sciences and sociology has taken up collaboration at the ARIC, contributing their knowledge and various plans of action.
The consolidation of expertise from various industries and scientific disciplines is crucial to systematically promoting and sustainably utilising the technological potential of AI. At the ARIC, these different sectors converge to firmly root AI in the Hamburg metropolitan region and to provide structure and new targets for the future. In doing so, Hamburg functions as a link between application-oriented research and practical implementation in the field of AI.
International collaboration
Hamburg has partnered up with Estonia in this visionary project. The exhibition features items from both countries. Michael Westhagemann, Hamburg’s Senator for Economics and Innovation declared: ‘In order to be successful with a key technology like AI, we need strong partners and solid common ground. The showroom offers room for new ideas, projects and international cooperation.’
