A Bright Tourist Attraction

After being badly damaged, and subsequently lost its original style due to additional modifications and renovations, Uelzen train station was due a makeover. Based on the idea and concept of Austrian artist Friedensreich Hundertwasser, Uelzen train station was redesigned into a bright, interesting station which attracts tourists and locals alike.

An Environmental Station

Known today as a ‘cultural and environmental’ orientated train station, Uelzen Bahnhof was refurbished to include the artist’s signature bright tiles across the outer facade and ceiling, as well as inside the station. The old Wilhelminian facade was re-exposed and trees were planted wherever possible, giving the station a relaxed and organic appearance.
