The same love for detail can be found at Panoptikum wax museum on Reeperbahn. It houses lifelike models of more than 120 celebrities and kids can take pictures with all their favourite stars.
At the Ballinstadt Emigration Museum, kids learn in a playful way about the many people who left Germany for a new life in the Americas.
Three times a year, for a month at a time, the Hamburg DOM, northern Germany’s biggest funfair, opens its gates to visitors and locals alike. Right in the heart of the St. Pauli district, a multitude of roller coasters, carousels, show booths and food stalls offer everything children desire.
For animal loving families, Hagenbeck Tierpark is worth a visit. Hagenbeck has no cages. Exotic animals can be met at close distance, separated by only a narrow moat. The Tropical Aquarium and the Ice Sea section are its latest attractions.
For regional animal species, Wildpark Schwarze Berge is arranged beautifully in the hilly forest of the Harburg borough, 15 mins south of the city.
If there still is surplus energy to be spent, Jump House trampoline park or, right across the street, Rabattz indoor playgrounds and Schwarzlichtviertel (all in Hamburg-Stellingen) are favourites with kids. A few hours of jumping, running and climbing will have kids sleep with a smile across their faces after an exciting day in Hamburg.
