Hamburg by Bus

Hamburg boasts an extensive public transport network that spans trains, ferries and, buses.

Some routes cover scenic suburbs and landscapes taking you to places you had never expected in Hamburg. For example, route 112 stops at a number of sights such as Central Station, Kunsthalle, Landungsbrücken, and Fischmarkt, and takes you all the way to the beach and the historic ships at Övelgönne. For running times please check the Hamburg transport website.

If navigating the public transport system seems a little cumbersome, you might want to opt for one of the red double-decker buses that offer guided sightseeing tours. Routes vary, and some buses operate in hop-on hop-off mode. Or get into laid-back surfer mode and explore Hamburg by VW minivan, as offered by Waterkant Touren (see photo).

Despite the (widespread) assumption that Germans lack a sense of humour, the comedy bus tour is a fun opportunity to take in the Hamburg highlights with a smile. Tours are operated by professional comedians and run during weekends.

For the above bus-tour options, please refer to the Hamburg-Tourism website.
