Highlights Port Anniversary - Hafengeburtstag Hamburg
The yearly Port Anniversary is always packed with fun activities and events. From the opening ceremony and the grand arrival parade to spectacular fireworks - don’t miss the highlights!
The six-kilometre-long promenade between HafenCity, Landungsbrücken and the St. Pauli fish markets will be filled with stands and podiums offering everything from local specialties and handicrafts to live music and more.
Opening Service at St. Michael’s
In line with good old tradition, the Port Anniversary kicks off with an international ecumenical opening service held at St. Michael’s Church.
Grand Arrival Parade
Impressive sailing yachts as well as marine, fire brigade and police boats are amongst the hundreds of ships that will grace the waters in front of the Landungsbrücken piers during the grand arrival parade.
Who knew tugboats could be so graceful? Classical music accompanies the boats as they make their pirouettes at 5000 HP. Unless you don’t mind getting wet, don’t view this unique event from too close to the shore!
A literal highlight is the spectacular firework show that lights up the skies over Hamburg’s port. Cruise ships may join in the festivities. For the best views, go to the Landungsbrücken piers or find a spot along the harbour in the HafenCity district.
Grand Departure Parade
A spectacular end to a spectacular festival: the Port Anniversary comes to an end with a grand departure parade, at which the sailing yachts, tugboats and cruise liners bid their farewells to Hamburg.
The full programme for the 829th Port Anniversary in May 2018 will be available shortly before the event.
